Malaysia Domestic Helper Requirements

1. The Malaysian Negeri/State Department of Immigration requires all necessary forms and documents to be presented by either the employer or a registered Indonesian labour agency with the Malaysian Department of Immigration.

2. The employer must have an ill parent or a child who needs supervision and care to request for one domestic helper. The employer's partner must also be employed.

3. Only one domestic helper per family is allowed, and the helper must be an Indonesian citizen.

4. The salary offered by the employer to the Indonesian domestic helper must not be less than RM 3000.

5. A visa with referral is required for Indonesian domestic helpers to enter Malaysia from their home country.

6. The temporary work permit for Indonesian domestic helpers must be authorized by the Malaysian State/Negeri-level Department of Immigration, and the process must be completed within one month of the helper's arrival.

7. Indonesian domestic helpers are not permitted to marry local residents or other Indonesian workers employed in Malaysia.

8. The domestic helper should avoid activities that are against the local culture and ethics and report any inappropriate behavior.

9. The employer must apply for an extension of the temporary work permit three months before its expiration date.

10. Indonesian domestic helpers are not allowed to change their employer or swap jobs.

11. If the employer is non-Muslim, they must provide appropriate accommodation and avoid assigning tasks that go against Islam for Muslim Indonesian domestic helpers.

12. The Multiple Entry Visa is valid for 12 months from the date the Indonesian domestic helper leaves Malaysia.

13. Employers must inform the Malaysian Department of Immigration if the domestic helper resigns, is terminated, goes missing, or flees.

14. Employers must arrange for the return of domestic helpers who have been terminated, have requested release, or have expired or canceled passports.

15. The Malaysian Department of Immigration has the authority to revoke previously granted clearances and passports.

16. Indonesian domestic helpers are not allowed to apply for entry permits while holding a temporary work permit.
